Sluggish Sun Signs Benefit from Espresso
There are four types of sun signs in astrology: Earth, Water, Fire and Air. These different signs have different susceptibilities when it comes to diet. Some of those susceptibilities lead to sluggishness. Fortunately, sluggish sun signs can get a beneficial energy boost by drinking espresso.
Earth Signs
The Earth signs include Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn. With slow metabolisms and slow-moving digestive systems, these signs need to follow a balanced diet to enjoy good health and avoid obesity and glandular problems.
Sluggish Earth signs often benefit from consuming espresso drinks containing luxurious spices, including cinnamon, nutmeg and real vanilla. Taureans often prefer their espresso with a touch of chocolate, but these sweet-toothed bulls should avoid adding refined sugar to their drinks or it could lead to more sluggishness.
Water Signs
The Water signs are Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces. These individuals frequently suffer from slow metabolism and digestion, which can quickly lead to weight problems and sluggishness.
Scorpios lean more toward decadence than the other water signs, often enjoying a bit of chocolate syrup or rich cream in their espresso. Those born under the sign of Cancer typically like any full-bodied, sophisticated espresso drink.
Fire Signs
Those born under the fire signs of Aries, Leo and Sagittarius typically enjoy the best physical energy and vitality of all the sun signs. They usually possess healthy digestive systems, which means they burn calories quickly and are unlikely to gain weight or feel sluggish unless their immune system is weakened.
Fire sign folks lean toward hot and spicy drinks that don`t take very long to make. They often do well with just plain black espresso with maybe an extra shot or two. Leos sometimes enjoy a bit of sweet milk in their coffee drinks.
Air Signs
Gemini, Libra and Aquarius are all air signs. These people are very sensitive and tend to eat when they become angry, upset or sad. Unfortunately, they tend to crave foods with refined sugar or yeast, which can quickly cause them to feel sluggish and put on weight.
Air signs often prefer lighter drinks than the other signs. If you were born under an air sign, try drinking an espresso with plenty of aerated, rich milk to remedy sluggishness.
Candied Espresso Walnuts
If you need a little espresso pick me up but don`t have time to run to the nearest coffee shop, make a batch of these at home and take them with you to work. It only takes about 20 minutes to make this treat and the recipe yields approximately 4 cups. Ingredients
Non-stick vegetable oil
1 cup sugar
3 tbsp. finely ground espresso coffee beans
1 1/2 tbsp. instant espresso powder
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. coarse kosher salt
1 large egg white
4 cups walnut halves
Preparation
Preheat oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Spray a large-rimmed baking sheet with non-stick vegetable oil spray.
Place sugar, coffee beans, espresso powder and cinnamon in a small bowl. Stir until combined.
Place the egg white in a large bowl and whisk until frothy. Add the walnuts to the egg white and toss to coat.
Sprinkle coated walnuts with your sugar and espresso mixture. Toss to coat.
Spread walnuts on the prepared cookie sheet in a single layer. Bake for 5 minutes.
Gently stir the walnuts with a spatula to turn. Bake for 5 minutes, or until the walnuts are dry to the touch.
Take walnuts out of the oven and allow them to cool before handling. Store walnuts in an airtight container at room temperature. These pick-me-up espresso treats last for about two weeks.
To get the most health benefits from your espresso, make your drink in a coffee machine that places the water under pressure. This ensures that the healthy antioxidants found in espresso beans are concentrated in each cup.
